Aleksandra Janeva talks to us about her participation in Skopje Fest 2014

Aleksandra Janeva is no stranger when it comes to the music scene in Macedonia. She’s participated in many festivals and contests, but this time she’ll try her luck again at Skopje Fest 2014, the Macedonian National Final for Eurovision Song Contest 2015, which will be held on the 12th of November in the Metropolis Arena in Skopje. Check out everything Aleksandra revealed to us in the following interview:

  • Hello Aleksandra! Congratulations for making it to the top 20 for Skopje Fest 2014! Can you tell us something about your career?

I have been singing from a very young age, but what actually made a difference in my life was being exposed to a large audience when, in 2013, I sang in “Site Nasi Pesni”, a talent show, which was broadcast on Macedonian television. The same year, for the first time, I also took part in MakFest, followed by Skopje Fest and other music festivals.

  • Can you tell us how did you decide to take part in Skopje Fest?

As always, it’s the song that attracts my attention. When I listened to the demo version, I felt that the song related to me, giving me a warm feeling, as I instantly fell in love with it. But, besides the song, for me, and I am sure it’s the same for many of the other performers, it will be a real challenge and a novelty to perform with an orchestra which will provide for a perfect sound. When all the segments are put together, I hope to deliver a qualitative final product which will stay in people’s minds and be remembered for a long time.

  • Can you tell us more about your song “Vo tvojot svet”?

“Vo tvojot svet” (In Your World) was produced by Vancho Dimitrov, Ana Pandevska wrote the lyrics and Damjan Lazarov did the arrangements. We’re talking about one strong and emotional ballad about love, it’s up’s and down’s and the sweet feelings connected with it. Emotional songs are my favourites, probably because I’m full of sentiment and I always delve into them very deeply and empathize with them.

  • How are you preparing yourself for the Macedonian national selection for Eurovision?

Preparations for the Festival are the most beautiful thing which every singer can experience. Rehearsals with the orchestra already started and all the participants are very enthusiastic about working together and having fun. It’s just a very nice and unusual atmosphere.

  • In your opinion, who is your biggest contender at Skopje Fest?

Because of Skopje Fest’s history and tradition, every person who takes part in it has reached their ultimate top in regards to festivals – that’s not only regarding the singers, but also their songs. Every one of the participants is a professional who will leave a trace in the Macedonian music stage, and that’s why I consider them all as my contenders. 🙂 Nonetheless, for for me contenders are less important, the most important is the audience and it’s reaction to the songs.

  • Are you a Eurovision fan, and which one is your favourite Eurovision song?

Loreen’s “Euphoria” is my all time favourite song! 🙂 Since I’ve heard Loreen sing at Eurovision, she’s become my favorite singer.

  • Do you have a message for all your fans and readers of ESCBubble?

Listen to the music every day as it’s the medicine for one’s soul… And wish luck your best of luck to the 12th performer on 12th of November. 🙂

  • Thank you so much for taking your time out for this interview, and we wish you the best of luck in the Macedonian national selection!
