Nina Janeva talks to us about her participation in Skopje Fest 2014

Nina Janeva is one of the participants of Skopje Fest 2014, and she will compete on the 12th of November for a ticket to Vienna to Eurovision 2015. It’s not her first participation in Skopje Fest, and she also has Eurovision experience as well. In our chat with Nina, she revealed more details about her song for Skopje Fest this year, and she talks to us about her musical career.

  •  Hello Nina, thank you for taking your time out and doing this interview with us. Congratulations for making it to the top 20 for Skopje Fest 2014! How did you decide to enter this festival this year?

This year I didn’t apply to participate in Skopje Fest, but one of the participants withdrew his application, and the music director of Skopje Fest invited me to enter as a substitute for that candidate. At first I was having second thoughts, but after I heard the song I agreed to work on it. We changed the demo, and wrote lyrics.

  • Can you tell us a little bit about your song?

The name of the song is “Blues for…” and it is dedicated to my boyfriend Vladimir. Our very famous composer Davor Jordanovski wrote the music and the arrangements, and the lyrics were written by one of the most popular actors Toni Mihajlovski. Yesterday, we drew our numbers, and I imagined the number 19 cause that is my birth date, and I got it 🙂 The Universe spoke to me I guess 🙂

  • Nice! Can you tell us a bit about when and how did you start working with music?

Well, I am 28 years old, and I have been within the music circles for almost 20 years. When I was 9, I was singing in the Children’s Choir of The Macedonian Radio Television, and then I started taking private lessons for solo singing. When I was 17 I won a national competition called “Play in search for new talents” and I have been on the music scene ever since.

  • Can you tell us a bit about your recent projects?

During the time as an exclusive singer of M2 Productions we made 1 album called “Before midnight” as a female pop-rock group of 4 girls. My producer in M2 production was the composer and producer of Elena Risteska’s Eurovision song “Ninanajna”, last year’s Macedonian entry song “Pred da se razdeni” of Esma and Lozano (and I was their backing vocal in Malmo), and Tijana’s song “To the Sky” – Darko Dimitrov.

  • What are your hopes and expectations in Skopje Fest?

Last year I participated in Skopje Fest for the first time, and I can only say that it was amazing to work with the orchestra of the Macedonian Radio Television, a great honour above all. For this year’s Skopje Fest all I want is to hang out with my friends and colleagues, and then to win 🙂

  • Do you have  a message for the readers of ESCBubble?
