Dominic: “Being in the semi finals is very thrilling”

After competing in Malta Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Once In A While” and finishing in 12th place, Dominic is back this year again competing to represent Malta in Eurovision 2016 with his new song “Fire Burn”.

We spoke to Dominic ahead of the 2016 Malta Eurovision Song Contest semi finals. He spoke to us about his new song and the international team behind it, as well as his staging plans and Eurovision itself. Read everything he told us in this interview here:

First of all I would like to congratulate you for making it to the top 20! How do you feel about being in the semi finals of Malta’s selection once again?

Being in Malta Eurovision Semi Finals for the second time is very thrilling and at the same time exciting. Eurovision in Malta is the biggest event for the music industry, therefore being apart of this festival is one of the greatest achievements for me.

How did you decide to enter this Contest this year?

Although I participated in last year’s edition with “Once In A While”, it is still a great journey for me as I enjoy meeting new people. Also as I am a music producer this helps me to gain more experience so that I can improve my work.

Can you tell us more about the story behind your song, and the team who worked on it?

William Tailor , Jonas Gladnikoff and Natasha Vella Turner approached me. This song is so different from last year’s as it is more commercial. Also I truly believe it is a suitable one for Eurovision.

How are you getting ready for the national final? Did your ideas for the stage performance all come together, and how is everything going to look like?

We are a very dedicated team and we work very hard on our stage performance and vocal coaching. We are doing our very best especially choreography wise as it is a challenge for me. You are going to love the final result 🙂

Who do you think is your biggest competition to win the Maltese national final?

It is a very tough question as the songs are all very good.

Dominic 2What would representing Malta in Eurovision mean to you?

It would be a great responsibility and an honor that the Maltese People have faith in me.

What would be your all time favorite Eurovision song?

“Believe” by Dima Bilan.

What sort of music do you listen to in your free time, when all you want is to relax?

Pop music

What do you do when you are not singing?

I am a self employed music producer, so I end up writing more and more songs.

Are you engaged in any other projects at the moment?

I have just taken part in a Christmas Panto. I also plan to spend some quality time with my beautiful wife and our 6 year old child.
