Franklin: “You have to fight to reach your dream”

Franklin is back in Malta Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth time this year! After his attempts in 2013 with “Let Your Heart Talk“, “Love Will Take Me Home” in 2014, and “Still Here” in 2015, he is back once again this year, with the song “Little Love”.

We had a lovely chat with Franklin regarding his fourth attempt to represent Malta in Eurovision. He spoke to us about his new song, his team, and he also told us how much he loves online shopping.

Franklin, first of all I would like to congratulate you for making it to the top 20! How do you feel about being in the semi finals of Malta’s selection once again?

This is my dream and it’s something that I really wanted to do, and dreamed of. The feeling of being part of the final 20 for the 4th consecutive time is amazing, and I feel that every year I work really really hard with my team to have the best product.

How did you decide to enter this Contest this year?

‘The Malta Eurovision Song Contest is very popular in our country, and after last year’s result placing 5th with the track “Still Here” written by the amazing artist Alexander Rybak, I thought it would be amazing to give it a try once again.

Can you tell us more about the story behind your song, and the team who worked on it?

The song is written by the amazing Cyprian and Matthew (Muxu). It is an honest love song that is so pure that anyone can relate to – from a person in a relationship, to a parent to their child. It talks about the feeling of loving someone so much that whatever battle they go through you are there to support them through every storm.

How are you getting ready for the national final? Did your ideas for the stage performance all come together, and how is everything going to look like?

I’m working together with my team getting ready to give my 300% on the final night. We want something magical, yet simple. In a few words, we just want to keep that magical feeling of the song by keeping it simple 🙂

FranklinWho do you think is your biggest competition to win the Maltese national final?

Well I have so many favourites this year! hahaha 🙂 But I think one has to wait for the live shows first.

What would representing Malta in Eurovision mean to you?

Representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest is one of my biggest dreams! I believe that one has to work really hard to achieve this. Never stop fighting until you arrive at your destination. You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and work hard for it.

What would be your all time favorite Eurovision song?

“Euphoria” by Loreen, and “Rise Like A Phoenix” by Conchita 🙂

What sort of music do you listen to in your free time, when all you want is to relax?

Enya – “Only Time” is quite a relaxing song and I really like it! But at the moment my favourite artist is Louisa Johnson (Winner of the X factor 2016) and her debut single “Forever Young” 🙂

What do you do when you are not singing?

Apart from being a singer/entertainer, I work as a sales assistant, and I adore sketching and painting. And online shopping haha!

Are you engaged in any other projects at the moment?

I’m planning with my team to release my first official single right after the Malta Eurovision 🙂

Do you have a message for all the readers of ESCBubble who will support you in Malta’s national final?

Thank you so much for supporting me and my song “Little Love”. I promise you that I will do my very best! Of course I’m very happy and looking forward to be back in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest once again! Your support makes me feel so happy and special. I look forward to performing my song on the 22nd of January!

Love you all <3
