TVP revealed full televoting results

Polish National Final 2016 finished with surprising victory for Michal Szpak and his “Color of your life”. Fan s favorite Margaret with “Cool me down” finished second and Polish Eurovision entrant from 1994 – Edyta Gorniak reached 3rd place with emotional ballad “Grateful”. Today TVP revealed full televoting results:

  1. MICHAŁ SZPAK – 35,89%
  2. MARGARET – 24,72%
  3. EDYTA GÓRNIAK – 18,49%
  4. DOROTA OSIŃSKA – 8,71%
  5. NATALIA SZROEDER – 4,20%
  6. KASIA MOŚ – 3,39%
  7. TARAKA – 2,26%
  8. ALEKSANDRA GINTROWSKA – 1,74%
  9. NAPOLI – 0,59%

As expected there is a huge gap between top three favorities and other participants. Michal Szpak received more votes than all six acts together. Unfortunately only 2,7 mln people watched Saturday’s final on TVP – the result is lower than expected even if National Final 2016 had the best quality and line-up for years.

The unexpected results caused many comments and conflicts between Michal’s fans and people who supported other candidates i.e. Margaret and Edyta Gorniak. Margaret’s fans prepared petition for TVP to replace “Color of your life” with “Cool me down” or to repeat the whole televoting. The accusations of plagiarism appears as well. Some media claim Szpak’s song is similar to “Davaj za” by Lube, Putin’s favorite band. Sony Music Poland requested profesional expertise by valued composer and he confirmed “Color of your life” is not a copy. Also TVP informed that broadcaster did not receive any official claim regarding this issue and Michal Szpak will remain as the Polish entry with the song which won National Final.

Michal Szpak will participate in the second semifinal of Eurovision Song Contest 2016. His song has more than 3 mln views on YouTube and the NF performance uploaded on the official ESC account reached 832k views so far. According to Oddschecker even without “Cool me down” by Margaret Poland remain in the top10 of the betting odds.
