Kiev to host Eurovision Song Contest once again?

According to the poll on news-portal Obozrevatel, Kiev is the Ukrainians favorite to host Eurovision Song Contest 2017 after Jamala’s victory. 63% of voters want the contest to be held in the capital city. Only 11% said it should be Lviv and 4% picked Odessa. Crimea received 12% of votes. 10% said it doesn’t matter where Eurovision will take place because the most important is that Ukraine won the contest.

It seems that Kiev has the biggest chances to host Eurovision according to its mayor words that the capital city is the best option because of well-developed infrastructure, sufficient number of hotels and good local and international transport connections. Probably the budget for next years contest will be the same as for Malmo 2013. Kiev already hosted Eurovision Song Contest 2015 and Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 and 2013.

Ukrainian Head of Delegation informed that the first meeting between European Broadcasting Union and public broadcaster NTU will take place in three weeks and the location will be decided in upcoming summer. So far five cities expressed their will to host the competition: Kiev, Lviv, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk and Cherson.
