RTÉ select Brendan Murray for Kiev!

From Irish broadcaster RTÉ just came a statement that they will be taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest once again and that they have selected Brendan Murray to defend the Irish tricolore!
Brendan is a twenty year old singer from Galway, Ireland and was a member of the six-piece Irish boyband Hometown.

Hometown were formed and managed by noted X Factor judge Louis Walsh. Their first single, ”Where I Belong”, written by Irish band Kodaline, reached #1 in the Irish single charts, as did their second single ”Cry For Help”.
The band split in December 2016, so that the members could pursue invidual goals, of which Eurovision 2017 has become a goal for Brendan now.

RTÉ have now announced they are open to song submissions, which will pass a judging panel that includes Louis Walsh. They, however, also said that they are not limiting themselves to the submitted songs, so they might actively look for songs themselves as well.
The songs must meet the Eurovision criteria and can be submitted until 17:00 local time on Monday January 2017.
