Johanna Beijbom ”Never stop believing in yourself, you can make it!”

On the 25th of February, Johanna Beijbom is participating in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with ”A.S.A.P.”.
We have had a little chat with her and the result can be read below:

Congratulations on being selected for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, Johanna! What was your first reaction when you heard it?

Thank you so much. I was so shocked. It was too big to take in. This has been my biggest dream since I was a little girl and saw Carola in the Swedish Melodifestivalen for the first time in 1991 and now the dream is about to come true. I´m so thankful for this opportunity.

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

Johanna as part of the team that made Euphoria win! (Source: Gustav Dahlander (SVT) / Thomas Hanses (EBU))

My name is Johanna Beijbom, I´m 29 years old and live in Sweden. I´m a very positive and happy girl who live through music. I´ve have been singing all my life and when I was 14 years old I started to work with the famous Eurovison songwriter Thomas G:son who wrote the ESC-winner 2012 Euphoria with Loreen. In 2007 I got the opportunity to be the backing vocalist for Malta in ESC. The biggest moment in my musical career this far was of course in 2012 when I went to Baku with Loreen as her backing vocalist in ESC. And as you know we won!

After that I was Georgia´s backing vocalist in ESC 2013. And 2015 I went to Vienna with Denmark as their backing vocalist in ESC.

With all this experience I got the question If I wanted to be in the Danish Melodi Grand Prix as a solo artist. Of course I said yes because that has been my biggest dream for so many years.

What is your song about?

The song is about the most beautiful thing in the world, the love between two human beings and the feeling you get when you yearn for someone.

What made you decide to participate in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix?

I´ve been working in the Danish Melodi Grand Prix before but as a backing vocalist. I love the whole competition and everything about it. And I really felt that it would be amazing to come back as a solo artist one day. And now when I got the opportunity there was no question about it. I love Denmark, the Danish people and their music industry so to represent Denmark is a big honour.

What would it mean to you to win Dansk Melodi Grand Prix?

Wow, that would be totally amazing. And to represent Denmark in Kiev would be a very big honour. It would show me and everyone else that never give up on your biggest dream. Never stop belive in yourself, you can make it.

What kind of music do you listen to yourself?

I love all type of music. Music is my life. But pop and rock music is very close to my heart.

What is your favourite food?

Everything that my daddy makes. I totally adore his food.

Do you have a favourite Eurovision song?

Of course Euphoria means a lot for me but Waterloo is also a big favourite.

What’s your favourite song right now?

I´m in love with Rachel Plattens music, so I would say Fight Song or Stand by you

Do you have a message for the readers of ESCBubble?
