Here are YOUR qualifiers from heat 1 of Supernova 2017

The Latvian selection process ‘Supernova’ begins tonight when 11 acts will compete for the first 4 places in the ‘semi-final’.  This will then be whittled down to a final four to compete in the final on 26th February to select Latvia’s entry for Kyiv.

Following a series of disappointing results for Latvia, their selection process was rebranded to ‘Supernova’ in 2015 and the new format appears to be working well with both Aminata (2015) and Justs (2016) not only qualifying for their finals, but producing strong results.  The Latvian broadcaster LTV will be hoping to continue that trend in Kyiv.

Since the entrants were announced, we have been running a poll for the first heat, and ahead of the show, we can reveal the current standings in that poll which are:

1st (Q) – Katrīna Cīrule – Blood Runs Quicker (18.03%)

2nd (Q) – Miks Dukurs – ‘Spiritual Priest’ (15.57%)

3rd (Q) – Lauris Valters – ‘Magic Years’ (13.52%)

4th (Q) – Edgars Kreilis – ‘We Are Angels’ (11.07%)

5th (NQ) – Crime Sea – ‘Escape’ (8.61%)

6th= (NQ) – Pikaso – ‘U (Can Keep Your Cools)’ (7.38%)

6th= (NQ) – Rock’n’Berries – ‘Feel The Love’ (7.38%)

8th (NQ) – First Question – ‘Naked’ (6.15%)

9th (NQ) – Anna Zankovska – ‘Rage Love’ (4.92%)

10th= (NQ) – Linda Leen – ‘Who is in Charge’ (3.69%)

10th= (NQ) – Franco Franco – ‘Up’ (3.69%)

Our Editors panel also voted in this heat, with a very different set of results.  Our favourites to qualify were:

1st – Rock ‘n’ Berries; 2nd – Katrīna Cīrule; 3rd – Franco Franco; 4th – Crime Sea

And for completeness our remaining votes were: 5th – Edgars Kreilis; 6th – Linda Leen; 7th – Anna Zankovska; 8th= Lauris Valters & Miks Dukurs; 10th – Pikaso; 11th – First Question
