Lisbon confirmed as host city for Eurovision 2018!

Not even 48 hours after winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Portuguese broadcaster RTP have confirmed the hosting city of 2018: the capital of Lisbon! This was just reported on in the news show Jornal do Tarde Jornal da Tarde, their Eurovision coverage starting from 18:23.

There has already been an ”emergency meeting” at RTP to discuss the planning for Eurovision 2018.

No dates or venue have been announced yet, but the EBU have indicated they have a strong preference for the MEO arena in Lisbon. The MEO arena was built in 1998 for the Expo ’98 and has also hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2005 and has a raw capacity of 20.000 people.

Portugal will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 following Saturday’s win by Salvador Sobral with ‘Amar pelos dois’:
