RTVSlo receives 108 songs for EMA 2018!

The Slovenian national broadcaster has received a total of 108 songs for their next year’s Eurovision selection, EMA 2018. This is by 18 songs more than for this year’s competition, which was eventually won by Omar Naber and his song “On My Way”.

The rules of next year’s EMA have changed, and only songs in Slovenian language, or in a recognised minority language of Slovenia could have been entered to the competition. Still, since 2015, this is the highest submission number (back then, 145 songs have been entered for EMA 2015).

The board of RTVSlo will finalize the full rules and regulations of EMA 2018 and publish them by the 1st of December, and afterwards, a pre-selection jury will listen through all of the submitted songs and select the best ones to enter the live shows. The qualifiers will be revealed no later than the 8th of December.

Omar Naber won this year’s EMA with his song “On My Way”, and represented his country for the second time in Eurovision in Ukraine. Unfortunately, he failed to qualify for the Grand Final.
