Jessica Mauboy will represent Australia at the Eurovision 2018!

Australian broadcaster SBS announced earlier this morning, that Jessica Mauboy will represent Australia at the upcoming 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. After Cesár Sampson from Austria, Aisel from Azerbaijan, Laura Groeseneken from Belgium, Waylon from The Netherlands and Saara Aalto from Finland, Jessica is sixth act to compete at the Eurovision next year.

“Eurovision is a wonderfully joyous and unique event. It brings together over 40 diverse countries and cultures under one roof to unite us all in music. It shows how much the power of song can transcend differences. I will sing my heart out for Australia, I’m so proud to be officially representing my country and a little bit nervous – mainly about the stress of the dress,” Jessica Mauboy said.

Jessica Mauboy already took part at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, as she was a part of an interval act when Australia firstly joined the party on the very stage – now she’s going a step further, as a participant. But whilst we’re waiting for the song which Jessica Mauboy will be singing in Portugal, take a look at her performance from Denmark, where she was a part of the interval act:

The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest will mark Australia’s fourth year of competing in the event, following three consecutive TOP 10 finishes, with Guy Sebastian’s fifth place in 2015, Dami Im’s second place in 2016, and Isaiah coming ninth in the 2017, in Kyiv, Ukraine.
