After Amir and his Eurovision entry J’ai cherché successfully represented his homeland, French broadcaster France 2, obviously, decided to choose the same formula for choosing its artist of the upcoming Eurovision in Kiev, Ukraine.

In the past year France didn’t had that many succesful results, in 2014 they finished last in the Grand Final, with a group Twin Twin and their entry Moustache. A year after they tried with a strong ballad, N’oubliez pas, sang by Lisa Angell, who also didn’t reach some huge success, finishing 25th, out of 27 finalists who tried to bring a trophy back to their country.

In September 2015 France also changed their Head of Delegation, introducing Mr. Edoardo Grassi, who definitely brought many new ideas and concepts in a way, how to reach as best results as possible. They also moved broadcast of the contest from France 3 to France 2, due to the huge interest to the competition. Last year Amir Haddad, French singer with an Israeli origins, was chosen to represent his country with a song J’ai Cherché, who was one of the hot favourites before the competition, finishing 6th at the Grand Final of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, ealier this year.

Yesterday, on Sep 13, Mr. Edoardo Grassi, also introduced a strategy of choosing an artist for the Eurovision 2017 – it will be internal selection again!

France is also one of seven countries, who took part at the very first contest, in 1956, and has been absent only in 1974 and 1982. France won five times, but their latest best result so far was in 2016, when Amir represented France with a song J’ai Cherché, finishing at 6th place.
