Germany opts for a talent show national final!

The German national broadcaster NDR have just announced that they are opting for a “talent show” selection for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, a similar format which brought Germany their second Eurovision victory in 2010, with Lena.

NDR has announced that five talented young artists are going to compete in order to represent Germany next May in Kiev. All singers who are interested in participating can send in their applications via www.unsersong2017.de. A professional jury consisting of representatives from NDR, production company Raab TV, and other music experts will then select the best 30 candidates to qualify for the second round of castings.

The best five acts will compete on the 9th of February in Cologne in a show called “Eurovision Song Contest – Unser Song 2017, and they will sing songs written by globally successful producers. The show will be hosted once again by Barbara Schöneberger. There will be a three-member jury at this show: Tim Bendzko, Florian Silbereisen, and Lena – the winner of Eurovision 2010, who will be commenting on every artist’s performance, while it is the public who will make the decision who will fly the German flag in Kiev.

Jamie-Lee represented Germany in Stockholm earlier this year with her song “Ghost” which failed to impress both the juries and the audience all over Europe and Australia, finishing last in the Grand Final with a score of 11 points.
