Switzerland has requested from the EBU to take part in the second semi final of the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest which will take place in Kiev. The Reference Group of the Eurovision Song Contest has approved this request.

A Champions League match, as well as a match of the Swiss national ice hockey team will be shown on the Swiss national broadcaster SRF during the first semi final of 9 May 2017. Due to this, SRF made a request to the EBU to compete in the second semi final, which will take place on the 11th of May. The Reference Group of the Eurovision Song Contest has approved the request, which is why Switzerland will compete without a draw in the second semi final.

The semi final allocation draw will be held in Kiev on the 31st of January, and then we will find out in which of the two semi finals the remaining countries are going to compete in.
