In these modern times we’re often used to seeing sharp images of our favourite TV shows and our favourite Eurovision Song Contest is no different!

Although the contest of 2007 in Helsinki  (organised by broadcaster YLE) was the first one to be recorded and broadcasted fully in HD, few know this format was already tested in 2006!
Greek broadcaster ERT, along with the EBU (European Broadcasting Union), Rai, the BBC and other EBU Members tested the waters that year during the Eurovision Song Contest held in the Greek capital of Athens.
Large parts of the show were recorded in HD to get scientific and artistic knowledge, so that could be used for future shows, but actually never intended to be part of the live broadcast.

This Saturday we can enjoy the pioneer work of these collaborating parties. Because HD was still in its development stages back then, we won’t see the postcard graphics: instead we will see what happens on stage during them!
To give us that real Eurovision vibe, the EBU will still show the voting at the end of the show!
