The UMK call for entries is open.

Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu is back! The Finnish broadcaster YLE has published the rules for the 2015 edition that will bring a new and emerging artist to the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.

Starting from today noon, and until September 8th artists are invited to send in their compositions by uploading them online, or sending them in by post (the address is: UMK2015, YLE Kultur, PB 65, 00024 Helsingfors, Finland). The rules state that each artist will have the opportunity of sending in just one demo that, if selected, will take part in the UMK semifinals.

As per the nationality: at least one of the composers and the lead singer of the entry must be a Finnish citizen or resident.

Not much is specified about how the show will be organized: the number of participant and semifinals will be revealed at a later stage. The final will be held in March, with no exact date specified.

You can find the official rules in English here.

This is the fourth time that the Finnish television uses UMK as their national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. So far, two of the three entries chosen have qualified for the Saturday Grand Final, with last year’s Softengine placing 11th with 72 points.
