ARD plans an international interactive Eurovision show

The German public service broadcaster ARD is making plans to develop a Eurovision show with an interactive format. The show is supposed to be a cross-border concept, as the Swiss and Austrian national broadcasters SRF and ORF will also collaborate in the project.

Jorg Pilawa, a German television presenter, is in discussions to host this show, which is to be broadcast next year. The name of the show hasn’t been chosen yet. What is clear, however, is that the transnational show will have an interactive format in which TV viewers will have the opportunity to take part in the programme by means of an app.

“The idea is for the first time in the history of Austrian, Swiss and German television to offer all viewers the possibility to participate live via an app in an exciting and entertaining three-country contest, in which they will be able to play along as contestants for their home country”, said ARD’s spokesperson.

Exactly how this concept will work remains to be seen when ARD releases more information about their plans regarding this Eurovision show.
