Surprising news come today from the UK, as the BBC has opened a call for songs for Eurovision 2015!

Guy Freeman says that in the previous years the BBC has taken different approaches for the Eurovision Song Contest, and that there is no perfect formula on how to select the entrants. However, in the past few years the quality of the songs have changed. Even though it is a Song Contest, the song itself, the performance and the staging all have to come together perfectly in order to win, or come close to winning.

BBC decided to have an open call for songs for Eurovision 2015 in Vienna! All interested applicants need to send a video recording of the artist(s) singing the song they want to enter in Eurovision. The video doesn’t have to be professionally shot, and the song can be a demo, and it has to meet the Eurovision rules.

All applicants wishing to enter need to send this video to BBCEurovisionSubmissions@bbc.co.uk, no later than the 7th of November at 5pm. A special jury will then listen through all the submitted songs, and shortlist the best ones, and those artists will be notified by the 21st of November. Apart from this, songs submitted by record labels will also be considered together with the shortlisted ones, and then a panel of experts will have a final say on who will represent the United Kingdom in Vienna.
