Ireland’s RTE calls for songs for Eurovision 2015!

The Irish national broadcaster RTE have started their search for the song which will represent them in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna! After  a few years of national selections where five mentors had to select one song each, Ireland is going to be back to a complete open selection once again.

RTE’s rules claim that all the interested parties need to submit their songs in an mp3 or wav format on a CD or a USB, and that e-mails, Soundcloud or similar links will not be considered. You will also need six copies of the lyrics of the song, a photograph and a biography of the performer(s), as well as ideas of how the song would be staged in the national final Eurosong 2015, and in the Eurovision Song Contest (if there would be any additional people on stage – backing singers, dancers etc., that should also be mentioned).

All the entered songs have to be performed on a professionally recorded backing track, and composers are not allowed to enter more than two songs into this selection. All singers and songwriters must be Irish citizen, or to have such citizenship and/or valid visas as shall allow that person to travel to and attend the national final.

The closing date of the applications is the 31st of October. After this deadline, a special jury panel will listen through all the entered songs, and select the best ones to enter Eurosong 2015. The date of the national final is yet to be announced.
