The winning song of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest, “Rise Like A Phoenix”, has just gone Platinum in Austria! Conchita Wurst was presented with the Platinum disc of her single last night in the show “2014 – Die Jahresrückblickshow” (2014 – A Year in a Review, in English).

“Rise Like A Phoenix” was sold over 30,000 copies in Austria, which is the number of sales needed for a single to go Platinum in Austria, and over 100,000 copies of this song are sold worldwide. The last time a single went Platinum in Austria was back in 2012. Dr. Alexander Wrabetz, the General Director of ORF, congratulated Conchita Wurst and her team, and said that this single going Platinum shows the importance of human tolerance and diversity. He added that the success of this song shows how important this message is both to Austrians, and all the people world wide, and that they want to carry out this spirit in May 2015 in Vienna again, together with Conchita Wurst.
