Few days before official announcement Edyta Gorniak shocked everyone with her Facebook statement as she will not represent Poland in Vienna because her offer was rejected by TVP. She said she was asked for her comeback many times already but she always refused the invitation due to different reason but this time, after 20 years, she decided to return. According to her statement she came to TVP with idea to participate in Eurovision again but after one month she received an answer that someone else has been chosen. “I wanted to provide you all with huge surprise but…there will be another one soon” – she said and confirmed that rejected 2015 entry will be added to her new album as bonus track.
Fans can’t hide their shock and disappointment with TVP’s decision but they try to find another solution already. Edyta Gorniak was almost everyone’s favorite and it’s quite hard to find different such big name who could replace her. TVP’s strategy is to keep the name in secret till Monday afternoon which means that they picked very popular singer, otherwise there will be no sense to create this kind of atmosphere around the whole thing. As we reported yesterday, according to various rumors Halina Mlynkova could be one of the candidates, but mostly as back-up plan because she is not that popular as Edyta.
According to the Polish fans two names are highly rumored now – Doda and Sylwia Grzeszczak. Doda declared her interest to represent Poland in 2015 during many interviews but TVP denied all the rumors connected to her and stated that idea to send Doda to Vienna was never an option. Anyway, Doda’s new single “Riotka” has English version recorded which was supposed to be published back in February but the premiere was postponed. Many fans hope that “Not over you” (English title of “Riotka”) will be new Polish entry anyway.
From the other side we have Sylwia Grzeszczak, called as “Princess of Polish Pop”. Her songs are very popular among radio stations and the audience and she received many music awards in several months but she never stated anything about her possible Eurovision participation. Even if she seems to be uninterested, many Eurovision fans would love to see her in Stadthalle with beautiful ballad.
As we informed yesterday, TVP will announce the decision on Monday during “Swiat sie kreci” live show hosted by Agata Mlynarska. Show will start at 18:30 CET and ESCbubble will be in TVP’s Headquarters to provide you with newest information!
