Michal Szpak would like to represent Poland in 2016
Eurovision saga in Poland begins right now! Michal Szpak, former “X Factor” participant and the winner of Song Contest “SuperPremiery” at Opole Festival 2015 said he would love to represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Sweden and he already has the song for the competition! As he informed during interview in Interia.pl, this song will be realeased on his solo album in October. “I would like to take part in Eurovision, to face the European artists and present the entry which I believe will left big emotional mark on everyone” – he said.
Michal Szpak wanted to participate in Eurovision 2015 but at the end Monika Kuszynska has been chosen to represent Poland in Vienna. Szpak’s fans believe in singer’s Eurovision potential and sometimes he was even compared to Conchita because of his controversial and unusual image. His brand new song “Real Hero”, performed during Opole Festival in Polish version (“Jestes bohaterem”) was often commented as quite good Eurovision entry, and Michal’s victory in Opole means public supports him as he beat popular duo of Donatan (producer of “My Slowianie – We Are Slavic”) & legendary Polish singer Maryla Rodowicz in televoting. It is still uknown how and when Polish broadcaster TVP will select new Eurovision entry, but Polish participation is almost confirmed because tv-ratings of this year’s final was very impressive and made TVP content.
Just to remind you, Conchita will perform this Saturday in Polish city of Kielce during the concert “Sabat Czarownic – Coven”. Polish Eurovision 1995 entrant Justyna Steczkowska will host the show together with Tomasz Kammel (Eurovision Young Dancers 2013
host). TVP2 will broadcast the event live and already starts to promote it using part of Conchita’s Eurovision performance. What Michal Szpak thinks about her? “Conchita managed not to waste her chance after winning the Eurovision and is indisputably important part of the contest’s history. I hope my Eurovision performance will be just as important but in another sense.“- he said.
Poland finished 23rd in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 with ballad “In the name of love” performed by Monika Kuszynska. Despite the poor result in the final TVP considered the participation as a success because Poland managed to qualify to the final for the second time in the row and Monika reached 15th place in the final televoting.
This song from the Opole festival is very blind and if he’s going to Eurovision, he needs a stronger entry.
