Malta Eurovision Song Contest in January 2016!

The Maltese public broadcaster TVM has just published the rules and regulations of their national selection Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016, which will be taking place in January.

All interested artists and composers will be able to submit their songs for the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016 on the 29th and the 30th of September. Apart from their song they want to participate with, the artists will have to submit a recording of another song – either a cover version, or an already published song. The winner of the last edition of this contest – Amber, is not allowed to enter again in 2016.

A special jury will then listen through all the submitted songs, and will select 20 finalists, which will be announced in November. The final will be done in two stages – in the first stage, the 20 artists will be allowed to perform two songs each, while the lucky 14 who will make it to phase two will then present only one song each.

A six member jury and televoting (as the 7th juror) will decide on the winner, and the Maltese entrant(s) in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm.

Amber represented Malta in Vienna this May with “Warrior”, and unfortunately failed to qualify for the Grand Final.
