Australia confirmed to make their debut at Junior Eurovision in Sofia

Following their successful 5th place in Vienna at the Eurovision Song Contest, Australia have confirmed they will be making their debut at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Sofia. Australian broadcaster SBS will join Ireland and their broadcaster TG4 in making their Junior ESC debut, taking the total number of participants this year to 17, the largest since the 2007 edition in Rotterdam.

Contest Supervisior Vladislav Yakovlev elaborated on Australia’s inclusion. “Junior Eurovision has always strived for inclusion and collaboration – having Australia as part of our event shows their commitment to celebrating young and future singing talent and we welcome them to our enthusiastic and growing international group of performers, delegates, media and team members.”

SBS Australia have proudly shown the Junior Eurovision Song Contest since it’s premiere in 2003 and have also confirmed that the show will be shown live to Australian audiences at 04.30 Sunday 22 November, in addition to a repeat showing during the prime time airing of 19.30 Saturday 28 November. The votes of Australia will be decided by 100% Jury.

The Australian participant is expected to be revealed by SBS on Friday October 9th, 2015, to coincide with the Junior ESC Heads of Delegation meeting in Sofia.
