238 songs submitted for Eesti Laul 2016!

The deadline for the song submissions in Estonia has passed, and ERR informs that a record breaking number of songs have been submitted for Eesti Laul 2016 – 238! This number surpasses the number of submitted songs from last year by a total of 19 songs.

Mart Normet, the producer of Eesti Laul 2016 stated:

Elina and Stig raised the bar greatly, both in a local and international level. We are hoping that we will have strong and timeless songs in Eesti Laul 2016 as well.

A professional jury made of 11 music experts are now going to listen through all of the submitted songs this Wednesday and Thursday, and select the best 20 to enter the live shows. The names of the selected 20 acts will be made public on the 5th of November at 18:00 CET in the TV show “Ringvaade”.

Eesti Laul 2016 is going to be held in the Saku Suurhall, which was also the venue of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2002. The semi finals are going to take place on the 13th and the 20th of February, while the Grand Final of Eesti Laul 2016 will take place on the 5th of March.
