MIKA speaks about his Junior Eurovision entry!

In September, the ARMTv announced that MIKA would represent Armenia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with his song called ”Love”. The official music video was revealed on October 9th. The 12 year old boy took the time to speak to ESCBubble about his forthcoming participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Fun facts about MIKA:

  • Artist: Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley
  • Book: Books by Mark Twain, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Charles Dickens.
  • Sport: Basketball. It has a very unique energy.

What was your first reaction when you were told that you would represent your country at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015?

I got a call from the Public TV Company of Armenia saying that I was chosen to represent Armenia in JESC 2015. I was very happy, surprised and excited at the same time. I immediately accepted the proposal, as representing my country in Junior Eurovision was the biggest dream I had for the past 4 years.

How would you describe your song ‘’Love’’ in a few words? Is there a message behind the song?

My song “Love” is very positive. It carries the message of the importance of love and joy. It is filled with an incredible energy. Through “Love” I can pass that energy to everyone, and share those positive emotions. Also I really like that it’s a Rock N’ Roll song. I have never sung in this genre before, so this is a great experiment for me. I composed the song together with Lilith Navasardyan and lyricist Avet Barseghyan.

Do you have any special ideas for your performance in Sofia (ex: choreography, outfit…)?

Well, I’ve been quite busy lately. I am having vocal trainings, dance and stage practices. I can’t tell you much about my performance on the stage yet, but I’m sure that you’re going to love it!

Besides singing, do you have other passions/hobbies?

I really love dancing. I also love television. I currently host a TV show and I also do voiceovers for different movies and animation films.

At what age did you start singing? How did you start singing?

I started singing when I was very little. During that time I also composed a song about my family. I’m still wondering how that happened! When I was 6, I started taking vocal and piano classes, so this was the time when I started getting serious music education.

Are you a Eurovision fan? What are your favourite Eurovision songs? Would you like to participate to Eurovision one day?

I am a big Eurovision fan! I would love to represent my country in the Eurovision one day. Each year, I watch all of the shows, and I have several favorite songs. But one of my most favorites is Måns Zelmerlöw’s ‘’Heroes’’, which I recently covered!

Do you have an inspiration/hero?

Yes, Cupid! He was my true inspiration for my song, and I also played his character in my music video. I was the chief Cupid of the famous “Cupid inc.”.

At last, what would you like to say to your fans that are going to support you at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015?

As chief cupid would say: Love wins everything!

We would like to thank MIKA for the interview and we would also like to wish him the best of luck in Sofia, at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015!
