RTV Slovenija (the Slovenian national broadcaster) confirmed preliminary application for next year’s Eurovision a couple of weeks ago. Now they have officially confirmed that Slovenia is back in the game once again, and that the country will be taking part in Eurovision in Stockholm!
RTV Slovenija decided that they’ll choose their entrant once again in the well-known national selection, EMA 2016. RTVSlo will release all the information regarding this national selection, and also start their call for songs by the end of the month.
Slovenia made its debut in Eurovision Song Contest, back in 1993, when 1X Band won first ever Slovenian national selection, with a song ‘Tih Deževen Dan’ (Quiet Rainy Day), and the country is yet to win an event. Slovenia’s best result in Eurovision is 7th place twice – with Darja Svajger’s “Prisluhni mi”, and Nusa Derenda’s “Energy”. Slovenia was represented by Maraaya earlier this year in Eurovision in Vienna with the song “Here For You”, which finished in 14th position in the Grand Final.
