Xavier Naidoo to represent Germany in Stockholm!

After a run of three poor results and a null points in Vienna, the German broadcaster decided to select the artist internally for Stockholm, and the select artist is Xavier Naidoo!

Xavier Naidoo is one of the most popular artists in Germany, as in his 20 years of career all of his albums went gold or platinum. He is currently touring Germany with his band “Die Söhne Mannheims”, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the group.

The song Xavier will sing in Stockholm will be selected in a national final called “Unser Song für Xavier” on the 18th of February. Well known composers and producers have been asked to write songs for Xavier, six of which will be in the run to become his Eurovision song. These songs will be selected by a professional jury including Xavier Naidoo on the 15th of December, and they will be presented the day after.

Three music experts (including Lena – Eurovision winner from 2010) will be a member of the jury panel during the show, and they will comment on each and every of the songs. However, they will have no say in the results, as the winning song will be chosen by televoting only.

Thomas Schreiber, the entertainment coordinator of ARD said:

Xavier Naidoo is an exceptional artist, who has been well-known in the German music business for more than 20 years. This is why we decided to directly select him. The fact that Xavier has agreed to represent Germany in Stockholm is, at the same time, an obligation for us to create the best possible conditions for his performance.

What do you think of Xavier Naidoo, can he bring the Eurovision Song Contest back to Germany?
