Domenique: “This contest was my dream since I was very little”

Domenique Azzopardi has made it to the semi finals of the Malta Eurovision Song Contest for the fourth time. Her very first try was back in 2011 with “I Follow The Sunshine”, and her best result came in her second try in 2013 with “Too Little Too Late” penned by Marc Paelink (who wrote Chiara’s “What If We” and Alyona Lanskaya’s “Solayoh” in between others).

We had a nice chat with Domenique regarding her participation in the 2016 edition of Malta Eurovision Song Contest. Check out everything she told us right here:

First of all I would like to congratulate you for making it to the top 20! How do you feel about being in the semi finals of Malta’s selection once again?

Thank you. I feel very honored and happy that for the 4th year I made it to the semi-finals.

How did you decide to enter this Contest this year?

Actually this Contest was my dream since I was very little. So basically it comes natural to apply for this contest.

Can you tell us more about the story behind your song, and the team who worked on it?

The story is about a person whom although she is empty hearted and with an empty soul, she found the strength to pick up the broken pieces and got back to her feet much more stronger than she used to be. The song writers are Ylva and Linda Persson.

How are you getting ready for the national final? Did your ideas for the stage performance all come together, and how is everything going to look like?

Everything is looking very great actually. I am being coached by Maestro Joseph Chircop under La Voix Academy and mentored by Gillian Attard. That’s all I can say for now 🙂

Domenique AzzopardiWho do you think is your biggest competition to win the Maltese national final?

Well I believe that everyone stands a chance.

What would representing Malta in Eurovision mean to you?

It would mean another stepping stone in my career and also a great honor for Malta.

What do you do when you are not singing?

I work as a secretary in a law firm and I usually prefer to read a book or watch a movie probably.

Are you engaged in any other projects at the moment?

I am actually the resident singer of a the popular tv show in Malta called ‘Sibtek’ and working on releasing some singles.

Do you have a message for all the readers of ESCBubble who will support you in Malta’s national final?
