From playing football to playing a guitar, Boris René found his way from the Stora Valla stadium in Degerfors, to the Melodifestivalen stage in Norrkoping. He is debuting in this competition this year with a song written by  Tim Larsson and Tobias Lundgren.

ESBubble had the opportunity to speak to Boris René ahead of his participation on the third semifinal of Melodifestivalen. Find out everything he told us in this interview right here:

Hi Boris, thank you so much for your time and for speaking to us at ESCBubble. First of all, how did you decide to participate in Melodifestivalen this year?

Well I came in touch with 2 really good producers here in Sweden and after working with them for a while we felt that it would be great to participate in a competition such as Melodifestivalen.

What can you tell us about your song?

The name of my song is “Put your Love on me” and its an uptempo song with lots of joy 🙂

How are you getting ready for Melodifestivalen?

I’m just rehearsing and playing soccer so that’s my way of preparing myself 🙂

What can you tell us about the team you are competing with in Melodifestivalen?

These two producers that I’ve been working with are actually competing for the 18th or 19th time in Melodifestivalen, so they’re pretty experienced! So it’s a great team 🙂

You used to be a footballer. What will you bring from that experience to the competition?

Well I’m still a footballer, but it has been a blessing for me as a baller to experience pressure and competitions where you have to be at your best all the time so hopefully I’ll be able to bring my focus to Mello.

You will be competing in the third semi-final. Who do you see as you biggest competition in that semifinal? And in the whole contest?

To be honest my focus is not upon who I’m competing against I focus on myself and I see them more as artists that I can draw inspiration from:)

What can you tell us about your upcoming performance? What are you plans in terms of staging and outfit?

I would describe my performance as groovy and clean, a very simple act!:)

Do you have a forthcoming album in the pipeline? If so, when will it be released and what can you tell us about it?

No not an album, but hopefully an EP! Can’t say so much about it right now, but hopefully in the near future I’ll be able to give you more answers about it 😉
