Tonight, in Latvia, was held the semi-final of Supernova 2016, the Latvian national selection for Eurovision 2016. Ketija Šēnberga and Toms Grēviņš hosted the show. During the semi-final, 8 acts performed their song with the hope of qualifying for the Final, which will be held on February 28th. After her performance, Samanta Tina announced her withdrawal. Only, 4 of these 8 acts (7 without Samanta) qualified for the next round and can still hope to represent Latvia in Stockholm:
- Justs – ”Heartbeat”
- Marta Ritova – ”Not from this world”
- MyRadiantU – “We Will Be Stars”
- Catalepsia – “Damnation”
The first two qualifiers (Catalepsia and Justs) were chosen by the televoters. Then, the jury decided to send Marta Ritova and MyRadiantU to the next round. The panel of judges, who was in charge of choosing two of the four qualifiers, consisted of Kaspars Roga, Ieva Kerēvica, Intars Busulis (who represented Latvia at Eurovision, back in 2009) and Guntars Račs.
