Gabriela Gunčíková to represent Czech Republic!

This evening, Česká Televize announced that Gabriela Gunčíková will represent Czech Republic with the song ‘I Stand’ written by Aidan O’Connor, Sara Biglert and Christian Schneider. This team also wrote ‘Golden’ for Brooke, which finished second in Malta Eurovision Song Contest in January.

22-year old Gabriela is from the town of Kroměříž, and became known after finishing second in the 2011 series of ‘Superstar’ – the joint Czech/Slovak version of Pop Idol.

Since her participation in the show, Gabriela has released two albums, Dvojí tvář in 2011 and Celkem jiná in 2013, and also won the Český slavík New Artist award in 2011.

Czech Republic will compete in the second half of the first semi-final on Tuesday 10 May. As yet they haven’t qualified for the final, with their best result being last year’s ‘Hope Never Dies’ performed by Marta Jandová and Václav Noid Bárta which finished in 13th place.

The full version of the song hasn’t been released yet, but you can hear a short clip of the song on Amazon right HERE! The video will be revealed on Eurovision.tv tomorrow, 11 March at 1400 CET.

In the meantime, check out the video for the song ‘Černý anděl’ – the lead single for Gabriela’s second album released in 2013.
