Tonight, in Israel, was held the final of HaKokhav HaBa L’Eirovizion (The Next Star for Eurovision), the national selection for Eurovision 2016. 4 acts competed with the hope of winning the golden ticket to represent their country in Stockholm, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016:
- Ella Daniel – Somebody Out There
- Gil Hadash – Follow the Sun
- Hovi Star – Made of Stars
- Nofar Salman – Made of Stars
In the first round, all four singers performed covers and the two with the highest scores qualified for the next round. A third artist was chosen by the panel of judges. They all 3, then, performed their chosen potential Eurovision song. The singer who scored the highest number of points won the show. The winner was chosen, by the televoters only: they were invited to cast their votes through a mobile voting app. At the end of the show, Hovi Star triumphed and will represent Israel in Stockholm, at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016! He will compete in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2016, on the 12th of May.
Last year, Nadav Guedj represented Israel in Vienna. He finished 9th, during the Final, with a total of 97 points.
