One of the most expected Eurovision entries was just revealed less than hour ago. Sergey Lazarev, this year’s Eurovision act for Russia, just premiered his 2016 Eurovision entry, “You Are The Only One” on his official YouTube channel, along with official video.
Sergey Lazarev’s Eurovision entry was one of the biggest expectations in 2016 edition of Eurovision Song Contest. Rumoured participant for Russia for many years decided not to go with ballad, which we’re already used with Russia for some years now, he went to up-tempo song, which is entitled “You Are The Only One”
Song was composed by Phillip Kirkorov and Dimitris Kontopoulos, who also produced 2016 Russian Eurovision entry, lyrics were written by John Ballard and Ralph Charlie. Song was, after recording, mixed by Aris Binis in Athens, Greece at Vox recording studio Athens, and mastered in New York.
Sergey Lazarev of course presented his song along with official video, which was directed by Konstantin Cherepkov, produced by Irina Morozova, and last, but not least, Vladislava Evtushenko was in role of Sergey’s “The Only One”.
Russian first appearance was back in 1994. Russia, along with Sweden, holds the record for the most top five finishes in the 21st Century, with a total of eight. Russia won once, back in 2008, while Dima Bilan performed “Believe” at Russian Eurovision preselection, Evrovidenie 2008, and also later that year at the Eurovision. In 2008, also recent Russian participant Lazarev competed, but unfortunately he finished 4th in the preselection with song “Flyer“. Is 2016 the year which will bring another success for Russia? And just for remember you – Russia will take part in the first half of the 1st Semi-Final of Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place on May 10th!
