NRK receives record number of songs and wants to win!

In an interview with Norwegian news outlet Dagbladet, executive producer of Norsk Melodi Grand Prix, Jan Fredrik Karlsen, has announced that NRK has received 1035 songs for their 2017 selection, a record!
They have made a shortlist of 100 songs, which they will now go through and select the different songs that will compete in the Norwegian final.

Jan Fredrik Karlsen also made no secret of the fact that NRK is looking to win the Eurovision Song Contest again! He is certain of the fact that Norway will win the contest again somewhere within the next few years. The last time Norway won the contest was in 2009 with Alexander Rybak’s ”Fairytale”.

Jan Fredrik also revealed that director-general of NRK, Thor Gjermund Eriksen, has told him it’s important to NRK to get the contest back on Norwegian soil again.
To this he adds: ”It’s nice when our boss, who otherwise has to answer questions on how NRK should manage the finances for music events, sees Eurovision as an investment.”

Norway seems to be in it for the win for the next years to come!
