Amaya (Maja Keuc) withdraws from EMA 2017!

Amaya (Maja Keuc) has withdrawn her participation from EMA 2017, the Slovenian Eurovision national selection.

Due to conflicts in her career path, and a signed contract with Cow Pow Studios, Maja Keuc had to withdraw from the competition. She stated:

I was very pleased about appearing in EMA. I would have appreciated to get home, but everything happens for a reason and this path is not the only one. Following recent events, my agents and I have opted for a different approach to my career. I don’t exclude the possibility of an EMA appearance one day, but at this time my universe is devoted to something else, and I feel that I have to follow. I wish all the contestants good luck and I believe that this year’s EMA will be great!

Nevertheless, the number of participants in each of the semi finals of EMA 2017 will remain the same, as a new entry will be selected for the show. Mario Galunic, the Chief Editor of the entertainment department of RTV Slo said:

Even after the Amaya’s withdrawal, EMA will have 16 performers. We are in final discussions with artists and authors who will be invited to participate, which we also allow for in the rules of EMA 2017.

Maja Keuc was supposed to take part in the first semi final of EMA, on the 17th of February. Soon we shall find out who is going to take her place. In the meanwhile, listen to her Eurovision entry from back in 2011 – “No One”.
