Shauna: “The change in the rules will be a bit hard for newcomers”

Shauna Vassallo is a newcomer in the Maltese national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. She is going to try and win the Maltese ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with the song titled “Crazy Games”.

We had a small chat with Shauna, where we asked her about “Crazy Games” and the team behind it, the rule-change in the national final, as well as some more personal questions in order to get to know her a little better. Read everything she told us in this interview right here:

Hello Shauna! Congratulations for making it to the MESC Final! For the start of the interview, can you tell us more about the story behind your song, and the team who worked on it?

My team are Muxu and Cyprian. We are a great team and we have been working on making the best version of the song, which I am sure you will all love!  My song “Crazy Games” is very tailored to what my friends and I experience every day, social media, teen relationships, first loves and online messaging.

How are you getting ready for the night of the final?

Rehearsals, rehearsals and further rehearsals.  I want to be 100% ready to give my very best on the night!

What do you usually do when you are not singing?

I love to dance, so most probably you will find me dancing to songs, which then I eventually start singing to as well.

Shauna Vassallo 2What do you think of the rule change in this year’s MESC, that only the public will pick the winner?

The change in the rules will be a bit hard for newcomers, however I am hoping that people will love and vote for the best song that the show has to offer.

Why should you be the ones to represent Malta in Kiev this year?

I feel that I am talented, and I am also giving my 200% to make the song the best that it can be. However, I want to stress that if I am not chosen, this is not the last time that you have heard of Shauna.

Who do you think is your biggest competition to win this year?

We are all each other’s competition.  There are 16 finalist with the best songs, so we all have a fair chance at winning.

Are you currently involved in any other projects?

Apart from singing, I attend school and I am following my passion and studying what I always wanted to do since I was young, and that is working with animals.
