Anthony ”As long as your dream is big enough, you can make it!”

On the 25th of this month, Anthony will be one of the ten competing in the final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017 with his song Smoke In My Eyes.
He has been as kind as to give us an interview, which you can read below!

Congratulations on being selected for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, Anthony! What was your first reaction when you heard it?

Thank you very much! I was extremely happy to find out that I had been selected for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix! It is an honor to be able to perform on such a big stage and possibly having to represent my country in Eurovision.

Could you tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born and raised in Denmark but my parents are Cuban & Chilean. Music has always been a big part of their lives and they passed it on to me at a very young age. As far back as I can remember I would always see my mom dancing and singing whenever she used to clean or cook around the house. I think that without music my life would have looked at lot different because it has helped me through hard times in my life. Together with sports it is one of the things that I use as my release.

What is your song about?

The song that I will be performing is about young love and a guy who is infatuated with a girl. The girl he likes is sending him mixed signals and he doesn´t know what to do with himself. It is a song we can all relate to in some kind of way because we have all tried to fall for a person and start feeling like we are going crazy.

What made you decide to participate in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix?

The reason why I decided to participate in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix was because I love to perform & sing and this would be a big possibility to also represent my country while doing something that I love.

What would it mean to you to win Dansk Melodi Grand Prix?

Winning, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix would mean that I would get to perform my song for the whole of Europe which is a dream come true for any artist that loves to perform. It would also allow me to put Denmark on the map and show Europe that no matter how small of a country you live in , as long as your dream is big enough, you can make it.

What kind of music do you listen to yourself?

I love all types of music! I am very eclectic and will listen to anything that catches my ear. My favorite  genres of music are probably old soul music and salsa music. I love the emotion that those two types of music have.

What is your favourite food?

My favorite food is definitely lasagna. I am kind of a picky eater but lasagna has always been a sure winner with me.

Do you have a favourite Eurovision song?

My favourite Eurovison song is probably “Only Teardrops” by Emmelie de Forest.

What’s your favourite song right now?

At the moment I have to be honest and say that  “Smoke In My Eyes” by me. You should try to listen to it haha.
