Slovenia have chosen – it’s Omar Naber to Kiev!

After dominating tonight’s Jury vote, Omar Naber managed to win enough votes and edge out hot favorites BQL in the televote to claim EMA victory, 12 years after he last did so. He last represented his country when the contest was also held in Kiev, and he will get the opportunity to re-live the dream experience in a few months time.

His self-penned song “On My Way” featured Black and White screen effects throughout the delicate verses, which, paired with his clear vocals, won over all but two of the juries.

He has previously made attempts in 2009, 2011, and 2014 to represent Slovenia, and 2016 to represent Switzerland.

Tonight we were also treated to performances by last year’s EMA winner, ManuElla, popular Croatian singer Toni Cetinski and the reigning winner of the Eurovision Song Contest, Jamala.

ESCBubble recently caught up with Omar, check out our interview with him here.

Omar will represent Slovenia with his song “On My Way” in the Second Semi Final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to be broadcast on the 11th May 2017.
