“Statements”, written by Anton Hard af Segerstad, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb, and Loreen herself, won the Best Lyrics award at this year’s Melodifestivalen, with receiving 66% of the votes! This song received a lot of attention, as the lyrics are filled with various political and historical references. Loreen has previously said that the song is about not being a victim of anything, and that she wants to strengthen the contribution of people in a troubled time with this song.

Loreen said she is very pleased that so many have voted for “Statements”, because it means that they really listened to the lyrics of the song and understood the message.

What to say? It’s fantastic. People have looked up and read the lyrics, and the lyrics reflected as well. That makes me happy. Spiritually happy.
