Martina Barta – ‘I will perform with my heart in my hand’

Now that all of the songs have been chosen for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, we can enjoy the promotional tours of the artists, including the annual preview parties.  The preview season kicked off last weekend with the Riga Preview Party which is becoming a regular event in the Eurovision Calendar.

In Riga, we were delighted to be able to have a quick chat with Martina Barta, who will be representing Czech Republic at this years contest.  She shared with us some of the backround to how she was selected; why she chose the song ‘My Turn’; and the meaning behind the song and the video.

You can see our interview with Martina here:

In the evening at the party we were able to hear Martina perform the song live.

The song was chosen internally, and so did not appear in a national final, so for many, this was the first opportunity to hear Martina perform ‘My Turn’ live.  We were not disappointed, Martina is a classically trained musician and vocalist and she is clearly very confident on stage.

You can listen to Martina’s entry ‘My Turn’ here:

Martina will perform in position 14 in the first semi-final of Eurovision in Ukraine on 9th May 2017.

Last year saw Czech Republic qualify for the final for the first time with Gabriela Guncikova’s “I Stand”. Will Martina match Gabriela’s achievement, and could she go on to finish well in the final?
