ABBA to get a plaque commemorating their Eurovision win!

Recently listeners of BBC local radio stations were invited to send in their nominations for who they think are deserving to be honoured with a ”blue plaque”. Blue plaques are, as the name suggest, blue plaques that are installed in public places in the United Kingdom to honour a famous person or event and inform about the tie between the person or event with that specific location.

Today it has become public that ABBA will be one of the recipients and their blue plaque will be visible at the Brighton Dome, the venue where ABBA gave Sweden their first win back in 1974, with Waterloo, and which started their big, international breakthrough:

ABBA are one the 47 recipients, other huge names include David Bowie and John Lennon & Paul McCartney.

The plaques will all be revealed tomorrow on BBC Music Day.
