Isolde Vol, mother of OG3NE, passes away

Today a message on the Facebook page of the sisters of OG3NE appeared, sharing with the world that their beloved mother Isolde has passed away at age 48.

Isolde had been battling a rare form of cancer for quite a while and recently decided to stop her treatment as winning her battle seemed impossible.

The song, Lights and Shadows, OG3NE chose to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine two months ago was about their love for their mother and the heavy battles she was fighting. The song was composed by Rory de Kievit (Shelley’s boyfriend) and Rick Vol, the girls’ father.

Initially it looked like their mother wouldn’t be strong enough to fly out to Kyiv to support her daughters but that was not something Isolde abided by. She flew to Ukraine’s capital anyway, a day before the grand final, and surprised the girls and had an emotional reunion with them.

OG3NE themselves released the following statement:

We put trust in her battle spirit, positivity, perseverance and eternal smile giving us the strength to go on. Right now there’s the huge sorrow. We hope that everyone will respect our privacy and will give us the peace and space to deal with this huge sorrow.

For now OG3NE have cancelled all of their events to have the space to grief. Their farewell to their mother will happen in private.

ESCBubble wants to wish Isolde’s and Lisa, Amy and Shelley’s friends and family all strength during these sad times. Rest in peace, Isolde.

As an ode to their beloved mother:
