LTV Supernova – Submissions start today!

LTV, the Latvian national broadcaster have today opened submissions for artists to compete in Supernova, their selection to find the song to represent them in Lisbon 2018!

2018 will be the 4th year of the Supernova format which aims to find a “contemporary pop music song to compete in the International Market”

The rules have been tweaked this year, with non-Latvian participation allowed, as long as their copyright or related rights share in the song is not more than 30%. LTV are hoping that this will not only create more competitive tracks for Eurovision but will also promote the exchange of experience between Latvian and foreign professionals.

Another change for 2018 is that, following initiatives from the Latvian Music Development Society / Latvian Music Export, songs will be composed during a songwriting bootcamp.

No dates have been released for the televised shows, but submissions are open from September 6th (today!) until 2359hrs local time on October 15th.

Supernova is an extremely popular and successful project in the Latvian Music Industry and has yielded great results over the years, although Triana Park were denied a place in this year’s Eurovision Final in May.

Full rules of submission can be found on the Supernova website here

As mentioned above, fan-favourite Triana Park failed to reach the Grand Final for this year’s Eurovision in Kyiv in May, but here’s their performance from semi final 1
