Amir wins ‘Song of the Year’ at the NRJ Music Awards!

Moments ago, the 2017 NRJ Music Awards took place in Cannes, France. During this year’s annual event, a wide mix of both French and International artists took to the stage (including Ed Sheeran, U2, The Weeknd, David Guetta, Sam Smith, Rag’n’Bone Man and many others) – however one of the performing artists and nominees was Eurovision favourite Amir! (“J’ai Cherché”, 2016)

Amir’s song On Dirait was one of the six nominated for ‘Francophone Song of the Year’, and was up against other French artists: Louana, Vianney, Soprano, Lartists feat. Awa Imani, and Keen’V. During the live ceremony, this particular award was chosen via a public televote and Amir has just been announced as the winner!!

Amir’s winning song is available to watch/listen to below!

Amir was also nominated in the ‘Francophone Group/Duo of the Year’, along with OneRepublic, however Bigflo & Oli took that award.

Some of the more eagle-eyed viewers may have also spotted that Lise Darly (Monaco 2005) also made an appearance during one of Ed Sheeran’s performances tonight!

As France recently announced that they will be opting for a National Final to find their 2018 entrant, it’s worth keeping an eye on the French artists that took part in tonight’s award ceremony – maybe we could potentially be seeing one of them in Lisbon next year?

Congratulations, Amir!
