David Lindgren returns as Melodifestivalen host!

Swedish broadcaster SVT have just announced that Melodifestivalen 2018 will be hosted by David Lindgren!

David Lindgren is both a recording and a musical artist who was born in Skellefteå 35 years ago. He became famous nationwide after debuting in Melodifestivalen 2012 with ‘Shout It Out’, reaching the final directly and coming 4th there, despite being relatively unknown! He came back the year right after with ‘Skyline’ and qualified to the final again, something he repeated in 2016 with ‘We Are Your Tomorrow’. David has hosted Melodifestivalen 2017 together with comedian and YouTube-personality Clara Henry and singer Hasse Andersson. This year however, he will take care of all six shows by himself.

Anette Helenius, project leader for Melodifestivalen, states, about their choice landing on David Lindgren again:

David is a phenomenal entertainer and shined in his role as host and won the hearts of the people. But David has so many more sides to show. That’s why it feels both stable and at the same time incredibly exciting that David said yes to hosting Melodifestivalen next year.

Helenius says that in the search for a show director, they stepped outside their own comfort zone this year and they have opted for: Sunil Munshi. He has directed several praised theater pieces at, amongst othet stages, Dramaten, the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. Munshi says he is excited to be working with David and can’t wait to show the Swedish audience new sides of him.

David is excited and says:

Hosting Melodifestivalen is one of the most fun things I have done and I’m really looking forward to meeting the audience and the TV-viewers again. Now we’re gonna throw a party that will blast off the roofs of the arenas on the (tour-)way!
