Lithuania’s marathon “Eurovizijos” to start on the 6th of January!

Lithuania’s national broadcaster LRT has announced that their national final marathon called “Eurovizijos” is going to start on the 6th of January, and that they received applications from over 50 artists, and over 100 songs.

Next year’s Eurovizijos is going to be hosted by Ugnė Skonsmanaitė (TV presenter) together with Mantas Stonkus (both of them pictured above), a comedian who worked in various theater productions. Mantas mentioned that he thought he would be taking part in the Lithuanian selection one year, as it is a dream of his to take part in Eurovision, so hosting the show will be strange and exciting at the same time.

Laurent Lučiūnas, the producer of Eurovizijos, has indicated that more than 50 artists have sent in their applications for participation in the Contest, and that over 100 songs have been sent in as well. He stated:

We do not want to disclose the list of participants right away, as we want to give some candidates a chance to correct their applications before the selection – for example, to shorten their song down to three minutes.

Audrius Giržadas, Chief Producer of LRT was pleased that young performers also compete in the competition next year. He said:

A few years ago I noticed the tendency of young performers being enthralled by the power of the Internet, as if they no longer needed television. But I’m glad that they finally realized that being on stage and putting up against TV cameras is quite different, and can’t be compared to anything else.

The number of shows, and the exact format of Eurovizijos 2018 is yet to be announced, so stay tuned.
