Moldova opens submission period for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018!

This afternoon, Moldovan broadcaster TRM have announced they’re now open to receiving submissions of those who wish to represent Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018!

The submissions will be received at the Centrul de Colectare Eurovision 2018 (The Eurovision 2018 Collection Center) at the headquarters of the broadcaster and can be sent to an e-mail adress specified on the site of TRM.

For more information and how to send a song and the rules your submission must abide by, visit TRM’s website!

It seems TRM is happy with the way things went, votingwise, last year, as the rule of ”one vote per phone” is still in place. This was done to diminish eventual voting fraud, something that was highly claimed by O melodie pentru Europa participants in the past.

Other noteworthy information is that the song cannot have been submitted to another broadcaster and that foreign participants are allowed, as long as they don’t make up more than 50% of the act. Other than that, the usual Eurovision rules apply.

The submission deadline is January 15, 16:00 CET, after which a selection committee of 5 to 11 will judge the acts, who will be invited for live auditions in front of these judges! Sixteen songs will then make the semi-final of Thursday February 22, ten songs will go through to the final two days later: Saturday, the 24th of February.

In the semi-final the jury and televoters will make up 50% of the result each to decide which 10 acts go through. In the final the result will be determined the same way and this is also when the jury will be revealed (jury members that are not to have any ties to the participants or composers).

Last year, O melodie pentru Europa produced this winner: Sunstroke Project – Hey Mama, who gave Moldova their highest finish ever in the Eurovision Song Contest: a third place!
