Channel 1 confirm Yulia Samoylova will represent Russia in this year’s Eurovision

Channel 1 have today announced that Yulia Samoylova will be representing Russia in this year’s Eurovision

As we posted a couple of days ago, Yulia’s manager made the announcement that she’d be representing her country, and this has now been confirmed by the Russian Channel, Channel 1. As reported by Eurovision.tv, Yulia has already started her preparations for Lisbon and her song will be released in the next few weeks. Yulia was chosen to represent Russia in the 2017 Eurovision, but the country later withdrew

Yulia was born in 1989 in Ukhta in Russia, and was a finalist in the 2013 Russian version of the X Factor.

Yulia has also performed during the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi (as you can see below)
